LAYOUT GUIDE

Although most of it should be self-explanatory, here is a description of the various elements that go up to form an entry.

FILM TITLE
This will usually be the original British Title. Or in the case of foreign language films the best-known English title for it.

YEAR
The year of release is taken from on-line reference information obtained.

Aka
(if any) An alternative English title is shown if it's a commonly used one. The aka titles will be used on the Alternate Titles Index to help you if you are looking for a movie under a different title to the prime title shown.

CREDITS
The names of the Writer, Producer and Director of the film - as taken from the film's credits.  The Director's name is used on the Director's Index which displays all directors that have two or more films currently listed on this site.

TYPE
The genre or category that the film best fits into as assessed after watching it.  Sometimes it may fit into more than one category. This information is used on the Genre Index to group same-category films together for easy selection.

RUNNING TIME
This is the running time observed for the version actually reviewed. It may not always tally with running times stated elsewhere. Sometimes this difference might be due to editing but often it is down to running time differences between American (NTSC) and British (PAL) broadcast systems. On PAL a film tends to run marginally faster and so over the course of a 90 minute film (for instance) this can amount to it appearing to be a couple of minutes shorter than expected.

PLOT SUMMARY
A description of the plot.

COMMENTS
(if any) - The plot information may be followed by some comments if they are deemed interesting or relevant. This section is usually labelled "Comments" but can actually appear showing any label (for instance "Links").

CAST:
This section shows the cast members separated  into the differing degrees of importance they have in the film:-

(Not all the sub-sections are always used) The cast member's name is usually shown with their character name and sometimes with a brief indication of their function in the film or relationship to another specified character. Where considered useful sometimes the cast list is organised into groupings to indicate various connections they might have.   Not every single cast member is necessarily listed - often this will be for small or cameo roles of actors who were not (or did not become) better known names.  Where possible all "starlets" are listed however.

If you see a female cast members name shown in bold type this is there to indicate that she had some degree of nudity in the film. Male nudity is not noted.

NOTES
(if any) This contains one or more bullet pointed notes about the film which are considered interesting or useful. This might be a pointer to sequels or prequels or discussions of inconsistencies found when checking against other sources. If a cast member is shown on-screen with an "introducing" credit this is always noted here.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

Links: The body of the Plot, Comments or Notes can contain links to other films reviewed. If you click the link it will take you to the correct page (if different) and then reposition to the top of the review selected. If using a dial-up modem this won't happen immediately but it will reposition itself once enough of the page has been downloaded by the browser. Underlined links are all "live" links which have existing reviews associated with them. All these links are internal to the site and won't unexpectedly send you off to any other site. In some places there are pseudo-links set up in readiness for when (and if) a film being referred to is reviewed - these links look the same except for no underlining but do nothing if you try to click them except displaying a mouse-hover message of "Film Not Yet Reviewed".

Indexes: The entries on the site are listed and stored in Alphabetical Order. For convenience a number of indexes are provided showing the film titles listed in other ways.  But please note if using any index list other than the Alphabetical one (e.g. Chronological or by-Director) the links will still access the film's position within the overall alphabetically ordered pages. So if selecting sequentially from a non-alphabetical index then bear in mind that this would be likely to involve a lot of flitting between pages which on a dial-up modem connection will be a bit slow. NOTE: All links on the indexes are "live" links and have none of the "pseudo-links" mentioned in the previous paragraph.
